Confirmation is an experience through which students are given the opportunity, tools and resources to discern their relationship with God and their acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The Confirmation experience at Good Shepherd is available for students in 8th grade and above. Through Bible Study, Day Away experiences, retreats, worship and service, students will explore their relationship and understanding of Jesus, the Methodist faith and Christian Community as found in one another.

The Confirmation experience concludes with an opportunity profess one’s faith in Jesus Christ and to join Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, if the student so chooses.

About the Confirmation Program

Students are expected to complete:

  • 20 hours of community service
  • 25 weeks of worship feedback
  • 3 Confirmation conversations with the pastor
  • One retreat and three ‘day away’ events led by the pastor

There are opportunities for make-up should a student need to miss an event, this work can be discussed with the Pastor.

For parents, there is also a Bible Study and Class that patterns after the confirmation class so that parents can study along with their students. Parents are also asked to attend 4 parent informational meetings where they will be kept up to date on their student’s progress.
