About Student Ministry

Student Ministries at Open Arms exist to foster a new or growing relationship with Jesus Christ for students grades 6-12 through weekly opportunities for Prayer, Study, Confirmation, Fellowship and Service.

Sunday Morning Worship

Weekly, students gather at 9:45 with the church body and worship. Open Arms has more students grades 6-12 than any other age group, so their presence is strong.

 
Wednesdays

A weekly gathering on Wednesdays beginning with a dinner served at 6:00 p.m. followed by prayer by the whole church, then we break out into age appropriate groups. Sr. High and Middle High meet separately. There’s even an opportunity for post high school young adults. WOW is an excellent opportunity for students to gather, pray for each other, fellowship together and have a devotional lesson. During the Summer months of June, July and August, the church dedicates the WOW evenings on the 1 st and 3 rd Wednesdays to just the youth and post high school groups.
Education
Immediately following worship, children, students, young adults and adults break into age appropriate groups for Study. It is during this time that students are encouraged to explore the word of God and how it impacts their daily lives. It is also during this time that the students exploring Confirmation study the materials directly related to Confirmation.
Worship Arts
Throughout the year, students are given a variety of opportunities to serve Christ, to participate more fully and to interact with the North Campus. These activities are advertised at church, posted on the bulletin boards, the newsletter and the church bulletin as well as the website.
 
Daughters of the King
Under the leadership of a wonderful Christian woman, young ladies of this age group are encouraged to gather together and explore issues directly related to being a young Christian woman. No topic is off limits when spoken of properly and in the proper context. This group meets on Saturday mornings twice a month. The weekly schedule can be found on the church calendar on the home page of this website.
Worship Arts
Dance is a creative expression of worship. The dance group at Open Arms is exciting, current, relevant and a beautiful expression. Persons wishing to use their gift of dance are invited to join by contacting Deb Miteff at damiteff@fwgoodshepherd.org
