Prayer Ministries
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
--Philippians 4:6
Lamb Ministry
Stuffed lambs are scattered throughout our Vance & Reed sanctuary. Each lamb is prayed over and shares in worship with us. These lambs are delivered or shipped to friends, family, or members both here in our area and all across the world. Many hundreds have found their way to hospitals, missionaries, military, anyone we know with a special need. If you know someone in need, simply take a lamb and record the recipient’s name in the “Lamb Book” next to the information center.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Join the knitters and those who crochet on the Fourth Sunday of every month at 11:00 am to knit and pray over finished shawls. The shawls are prayerfully made using a variety of stitches. The person making the shawl has someone in mind to give it to with a special need or a milestone occasion.

Second meeting time every Thursday at 10:45. The Upper Room is used for devotions and discussion, knit prayer shawls. Both Thursday meetings and Sunday meetings are open to everyone from beginners to experienced knitters.

There have been many shawls lovingly made with no recipient in mind. “God will direct me to give it to the right person”, one knitter says. Several have been given to Pastor Stacy to use in any way she sees fit for Congregational Care ministry. The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets in the Library of Good Shepherd UMC on Vance and Reed. Call Janis 485-6632, Bonnie 484-4183 or Val 484-2153 for more details.
Lifters Prayer Ministry
Nearly 80 “prayer lifters” systematically pray over the people in the church throughout the year.
During Worship
During Worship, simply use a prayer request card and place it in the offering plate or hand it to one of the ushers or pastors. These requests are then used according to your instructions throughout the week. Certain worship experiences also offer the opportunity for you to share your requests publicly.
Anointing and Prayers for Healing
Anointing and prayers for healing take place every time there is a communion service (usually the first weekend of each month). One of the pastors is present at a special prayer station during communion.
