“What is God really like and what does He have to do with the ups and downs of my everyday life?” William P. Young’s successful and intriguing book “The Shack” serves as a starting place for this year’s summer sermon series. In the book, Mack faces a tragedy that forces him to seriously consider what he really believes about God’s character, His nature and His purposes – and not just in theory, but in the way Mack lives his everyday life. Each weekend this summer, through a series of paired messages, the pastors will help us understand classical theology – who God is - and follow it up with a practical message helping us consider how to integrate these beliefs into our daily behavior and practices. Watch for more details and ways in which we can meet for “summer at the shack.”

GSUM Summer Guest Artist Series continues on Sunday, July 19 with David Ashley providing special music at 8:30 and 11:00 AM and a concert at 9:45 AM. David and his guitar come to us from Huntsville, AL. With an attitude of humility, he strives to follow the example and instruction of Jesus Christ and to become an ever-improving tool in the hands of the Maker of Heaven and Earth. David is committed to using the gift of music to bring renewed inspiration to Christians and a new life to the lost souls throughout the world. Besides his unmistakable gift of music, what really sets David apart is his ability to tell stories. David is able to take the everyday situations that life brings and relay them back to the audience illustrating enjoyable life lessons that everyone can relate to.
“I think people are searching for something that is authentic,” David says, “and story-telling is just my way of sharing with the audience that we’re all in this together.”
