Spring Festival Choir 2010
Date/Time: Wednesday rehearsals begin March 17 Location: Good Shepherd at Vance and Reed
Exciting music used for exceptional ministry

Spring Festival Choir rehearsals begin very soon! The group is preparing a ministry to share the first weekend in May that features songs selected from the newest Keith & Kristyn Getty recording. The Getty’s are known for such great contemporary worship classics as “In Christ Alone” and “Speak, O Lord.” The songs for this presentation are very singable and have a distinctive Celtic flavor with incredible texts that celebrate the joy of the Christian life. The Festival Choir begins rehearsal on Wednesday, March 17, meeting most Wednesdays with a couple of longer rehearsals on Saturdays. For a complete list of rehearsal dates, to listen to some of the songs, or to sign-up to sing contact Dennis Campbell at 483-8816; 432-5162 or dcampbell@fwgoodshepherd.org.

The Gospel Gathering is a worship experience emphasizing gospel hymns and southern gospel music which meets the fourth Saturday of each month. On March 27, the Gathering welcomes the local vocal duo Twice Blessed. Beth Davis and Connie Stemen come to the Gathering to share their love of the Lord and their joy in singing His praise. There will be great old hymns led by Ron Layton and Pastor Phil tells the stories of Holy Week in his own unique way. You won’t want to miss it.

Holy Week Worship

Packed into this one week is an incredible set of events that shaped the world in ways that are hard to believe. But that’s exactly what God asks of His people – that we believe. The worship during Holy Week is designed to nurture, challenge, educate and motivate the people of God to radically believe so that they are changed from the inside out. Come, consider, question, seek. Meet the Savior and believe.

PASSION WEEKEND - March 27 & 28
Pastor Phil leads us through many of the stories of Holy Week as we follow Jesus from the triumphal entry to Calvary. On Saturday evening the 6:00 PM service features gospel songs and guest artists, Twice Blessed. On Sunday, the Sanctuary Choir, JuBellation, organ, percussion and soloists enhance the story-telling with songs that touch the heart and mind. Come and “Believe in God’s Sacrifice.”

HOLY THURSDAY - April 1
The events of Holy Thursday remind us of the need for friends and family - and the responsibilities that we bear as individuals. The Good Shepherd building will be open from 5:30-7:00 PM for small groups and individuals to come and share in a self-directed private time of meditation and prayer. Pastors will be available to offer communion and share in personal prayer.

GOOD FRIDAY – April 2
Good Friday challenges everyone to look closely at their commitment, to evaluate our dedication to Christ and to worship with abandon God’s unbelievable gift of forgiveness. Good Shepherd will host the gathering of area United Methodist churches from 12:00 noon – 1:00 PM.

EASTER WEEKEND – April 3 & 4
Dark despair is shattered by the joyous celebration of Jesus’ victory over death. Saturday at 6:00 PM the contemporary worship boldly proclaims that Jesus is alive and changing lives. The celebration continues on Sunday morning as Pastor Phil leads us to the empty tomb and exhorts us to “Believe in God’s Victory.” The organ, choir, and our guest Sharon Hoffman all honor the Lord of life with their gifts of song. Together we’ll anticipate the Great Banquet as we share in the Lord’s Supper. The Lord is risen! He Is risen indeed!
