Opportunity to Serve
Good Shepherd strongly relies on loving, patient, and humble teachers. We utilize teachers for adult Sunday School classes, small groups (FOLDS), confirmation class, children’s Sunday School, and Wednesday night programming (F.R.O.G.). We also use loving hands to care for our babies and toddlers during Sunday morning worship and Wednesday night programming.
If your God-given talent is:
· Leading group discussion
· Caring for others
· Teaching Scripture
· Rocking and playing with our precious babies
· Assisting teachers in the education and care of children
…then this is the opportunity for you!
Adult Sunday School – We offer two classes that meet at 9:30am on Sundays. Leadership of both classes rotate from week to week. Additionally, Good Shepherd is always open to additional opportunities. If you have an interest in starting a new class, let us know by filling out the form at the bottom of this page!
Children’s Sunday School – Following a Methodist curriculum, you’ll lead the kids through experiencing God.
F.R.O.G. – This is our Wednesday night programming for grades 1-5. Teachers relate to kids in a laid-back and fun way.
FOLDS – There is always room to form a new small group. If you feel God is calling you to lead a small group, we can help you start!
Confirmation Class – Confirmation Class is typically taken during 8th grade. Teachers or assistant teachers journey with the students through a year of concentrated religious education. This is the time for students to claim Christianity as their own. Each confirmand is also partnered with an adult mentor.
Nursery & Toddler Care – Our nursery and toddler childcare is open for the 9:30 and 11:00 services every Sunday. Servants play with, hold, and rock our precious little ones. Shifts are 1 hour once a month.
Seasonal Events –
Vacation Bible School – Share a week in June with our kids for VBS! Take them on a themed adventure full of music, stories, crafts, snacks, and pure joy.
Christmas Bible School – Spend one Saturday in December leading and teaching children while they sing, complete a craft and learn more about God.
Wild Wednesdays – Enjoy a wild time with our kids on special Wednesdays throughout the summer. Activities vary, but have included days trips to places like Chicago's Field Museum, and craft days at the church (with an afternoon spent at the pool)!
