A Special Place To Be...
The Preschool provides a high-quality early childhood program in a safe, nurturing and Christian environment. We offer activities that are not only developmentally appropriate, but also comply with the high standards of our Paths to Quality Certification.

Good Shepherd Preschool is dedicated to providing the education that will help a child to grow spiritually, socially, emotionally and physically. By providing a variety of developmentally appropriate activities, teachers will assist growth in the skills of thinking, listening, communicating, small and large motor movement and academic ability and knowledge.

Organized group activities include body movement, games and exercises, a time to devote to stories, songs, finger plays, weather observations and a theme of the month. Older children are exposed to letter and number recognition. Motor perception and music teachers meet with each class weekly for special emphasis in these areas. All groups have snack time with the children participating in bringing the snacks.

A part of each school session is devoted to “free play” the work of young children. The children have access to blocks, books, play-dough, puzzles, educational games, easel painting, creative- “open-ended” art, cooking, and water and sand play on a regular basis. Books and manipulatives are presented daily to encourage the development of number concepts, shapes and colors, awareness of nature and growth in language skills. All of these are considered academic preparation for Kindergarten and Life.

Goals and Highlights
Our Goals are to strive to help children as they learn to live outside the home; through sharing, group play, and peer relationships. In a Christian atmosphere of loving, forgiving and accepting, we support the children’s growth in the areas of:
  • Their attitude about self, others, and their world
  • Independence, self-discipline, and responsibility
  • Learning to listen, to comprehend, and to think for themselves
  • Developing their ability to communicate with others in a meaningful way.
  • Trying new perceptual-motor skills and practicing them.
