Books for Bashor Children's Home
The UMW has ‘adopted’ Glendening Cottage at Bashor Children’s Home. Children at Bashor range in age from 8 to 18 and need a variety of prayers and support. Please check out the UMW bulletin board in the back hall at our Vance and Reed campus for names and prayer requests, and then carry these children in your heart. Glendening Cottage Prayer Concerns
(Updated 05/02/08)

In the past few weeks we have seen an increase in cards and letters to the kids. Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to let our kids know that someone cares. Many of our residents don't have families and do not receive regular mail. That contact means a lot to them. One young man in particular spoke with me this morning about a card he received a note about his concern for others in his prayer requests. He glowed at it and has shown an immediate increase in his empathy (something he really needed) thanks so much! The difference you all make is bigger than you will ever know!

One other quick story...I was in Fort Wayne to speak at a church last weekend. My wife and I went down the night before to visit the city. While we were out for dinner I was praying about how God shows us miracles today. I was trying to finish up my message for the next morning and was stuck on modern day miracles. In line at an Ice Cream Parlor I continued to pray when the young man at the counter called me by name. It was Kevin, a former resident. Kevin beamed and spoke glowingly of his life. Kevin (who could barely read when I met him) is in college and doing great. He was a mess when he came to us and was one of those kids the placing agency was ready to give up on. He is doing absolutely great! I feel like God was showing me a miracle. There is no greater miracle to encounter in this world than a changed life. Thanks for being a part of that miracle with us, especially those of you who prayed for Kevin with us.
