Good Shepherd United Methodist Church - Adults

An active group of senior adults participates in ministries ranging from Retired Vacation Bible School to bus trips. A special “Old Friends Choir,” monthly luncheons with guest speakers, House Church and AIM (Age Isn’t Mentioned) trips are all a part of this vital ministry at Good Shepherd Church.

Most of our SENIORS Ministries program occurs on Tuesdays at 4700 Vance Avenue in Fort Wayne. All older adults from the community are welcome to join in the fun and fellowship.

Tuesday Activities

AIM (Age Isn't Mentioned) Trips
Most 3rd Tuesdays
Social, recreational and educational excursions for our senior adults and their friends. Trips vary in distance, cost and program, but are mostly day trips within the tri-state area and usually include lunch.

Monthly SENIORS Luncheon
Most 4th Tuesdays
Our senior adults gather at our Vance & Reed site for casual lunch and guest speaker or program. Our menu and programs vary greatly month to month and include all manner of home cooking and enjoyable programming. Cost for the meal is $6.

Movies at Coventry, AIM Local Trips, Games, and Outreach
SENIORS gather most Tuesdays for activities. On the days we are neither traveling with an out of town AIM Trip nor sharing at a SENIORS Luncheon we have opportunities to attend movies together, explore what Fort Wayne has to offer, learn a new card or domino game, and especially share in ways to reach out to the homebound and less fortunate in the community with cookies, cards, care baskets and simply Christian love.

SENIORS at the Holidays

Each holiday season at Good Shepherd is a special time for our senior adults, offering a Thanksgiving Feast prepared by our church staff, and delivered by our FOLDs to our homebound members. On Christmas Eve we also offer a family meal for older adults and their visiting families including worship with our Old Friends Choir.

Summer with SENIORS

Each summer Good Shepherd offers a Retired Vacation Bible School offering food, learning, fellowship, crafts, construction and fun. During this time our senior adults not only study and work together, they also prepare much of the crafts, set and props for our Children’s Vacation Bible School.

SENIORS in Song

Old Friends Choir is another offering to our senior adults who enjoy singing and sharing their vocal gifts…no experience needed! Just make a joyful noise! Old Friends Choir shares their talents in worship throughout the calendar year.

And if singing in worship is a bit too "public" for you, join us on 5th Tuesdays for an old fashioned HYMN SING!! Everyone loves the hymns of yesteryear! While 5th Tuesdays don’t happen often, they are just often enough to get us singing some of our favorites! Make a joyful noise!
